Explore the Arts is a day dedicated to art, music, dance, and drama. Today, April 17th, Sprague students and staff had the opportunity to participate in a large group assembly and two small group sessions. The variety of experiences ranged from hip hop dance to improv, drumming to soap making.
Lincolnshire Prairie View School District 103 P.T.O. representatives Carrie Giddings, Edward Kogan, and Lisa Lewis partnered with Sprague School art teacher Monica Feld and Sprague School music teacher Pam Orals, to design the day. (See photos below.) Performers out of Evanston, Illinois, Justin & Liam entertained each grade level with their unique style of educating through song and music. See the Offerings Page for a listing of opportunities from the day and view the photo gallery to see the event come to life!
An additional experience integrated into Explore the Arts Day included participation in Apples Around Town. A four foot fiberglass apple structure was purchased by the P.T.O. Our own Lincolnshire resident artist and parent Lynn Driscoll facilitated the artwork produced by students, that will make the apple complete for outdoor display at Sprague School. Mrs. Feld collaborated with Stevenson High School students to add Stripes, the Sprague Wildcat mascot, to the inside of the apple structure. Watch for the apple to go on display outside Sprague School!
A special thank you to the countless parent volunteers who spent the afternoon supporting the presenters and assisting the students as they tried new activities and learned new skills. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive community! Like the song goes...Sprague School is the best, don't ya know it!
