ART OFFERINGS
Apples Around Town: Under the direction of parent Lynn Driscoll, students contributed designs to complete the tree on the 4 ft. x 4 ft. fiberglass apple structure that will proudly be displayed outdoors at Sprague School.
Artist at Heart: Vicki Tucker engaged students in mixed media art, creating one-of-a-kind productions from recycled items and found objects.
Bow-Making: Julie Walsh introduced students to the art of using ribbon and other materials to tie different bows and knots.
Creating with Leather: This hands-on workshop gave students the opportunity to make a bookmark and keychain using leather. Thank you Steven Jespersen and his staff from Tandy Leather Factory.
Fashion and Design: In this class, students had the chance to use their creativity to design clothing like hoodies, bags/backpacks and shoes/sneakers! Under the direction of Stevenson High School staff and students and using multi-media supplies, students created a complete look of their own to take home!
Flower Arrangements: Lincolnshire Garden Club member Joan Keyes shared a short instructional lesson on botany and then lead students in designing a small floral arrangement, fully packaged in a plastic sleeve for safe transport home.
Model Magic©: Half Day School art teacher, Kerry Sweet had students explore the three dimensional qualities of Model Magic by Crayola©, resulting in an art piece to take home.
Painting Without a Brush: Students explored fun and creative techniques to paint in an abstract and expressionistic way without a paint brush! Students and staff from Stevenson High School exposed students to a variety of traditional and non-traditional painting instruments.
Printmaking: Lauren Macklin, Daniel Wright Junior High art teacher, introduced students to the process of print making. Students created an original design and then carved it into a piece of thin styrofoam. They used this template to print their design on to paper, using printing ink!
Soap Molding: Students created unique bars of soap by using glycerine, glitter, shapes, scents and color. District parent Erika Tully lead this session.

DANCE/MOVEMENT OFFERINGS
All that Jazz: Stevenson High School dance leaders taught a fun, upbeat jazz-style dance class. Sprague students performed combinations in small group before presenting to the whole class!
Bollywood: Students learned the latest trend of Bollywood Dancing through the techniques and combinations of the most popular songs resulting in a choreographed dance. Thank you to Sangeeta Agrawal for sharing your talents!
Dance, Dance, Dance: Sprague students were treated to a Melange dance, discussed how the dance was made and then made up dances themselves under the direction of Stevenson High School staff and students. Movement was generated through improv and small group activities!
Hip Hop: Lincolnshire dance teacher Marchello Lee taught the students about the history of Hip Hop and introduced basic movements and style. Students engaged in team building exercises and learned choreographed dance steps.
Show Choir: Under the direction of Daniel Wright Junior High music teacher, Nancy Alban, students from show choir performed and then taught the dance to "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid. Each Sprague student had their own Show Choir member teach them and at the end, Sprague students performed for their Daniel Wright counterparts!
Tae Kwon Do: Roman Ogortsov from College Park Athletic Club provided an introductory class for Tae Kwon Do. Students participated in physical exercises and related games that all resulted in fun!

DRAMA OFFERINGS
Introduction to Improv: This hands-on workshop gave students an introduction to drama and fine arts. Students learned about what it is like to be a professional performer, using visual learning aides and stories. Students participated in warm-ups and theater games that actual actors use to hone their skills and get warmed up for their craft. Thank you Improv Playhouse!
Theatre Workshop: Stevenson High School staff and students engaged Sprague students in storytelling via movement activities and theatre games. Students explored character creation via props and simple costumes.

MUSIC OFFERINGS
Justin & Liam: Songwriters, educators, and musicians, Justin Roberts and Liam Davis bring quality music to children everywhere. They have collaborated with early elementary students to write hundreds of songs that have been transformed into musicals, videos and live performances. ALL students had the opportunity to see Justin and Liam perform during a grade level assembly.
Music with Miss Cathy: Musician Cathy Glickman taught students the song "Get in the Car," an original song composed by Cathy and released on her 2005 CD "Mornings with Miss Cathy." With interactive movements, students learned the song, movements, and even performed it at the end of the session. Students also learned about the song-writing process and why this song in particular is a hit!

hands-on music-making experience was enjoyed by all thanks to Daniel Wright music teacher Nancy Fencl!

TECHNOLOGY OFFERINGS
Animation: Students created their own animated movies on an iPad. They picked a beginning, middle, and end and then animated their own movie by recording voices while moving the characters onscreen. Thank you Stevenson High School staff and students for offering this unique opportunity!
Creating Abstract Portrait Collages: Sprague Technology Integration Specialist Simon Vasey introduced students to abstract art using the iPads to create their own abstract portrait collages. Starting with a photo of their own face, the students digitally cut segments of other images to create their own, wild version of a Picasso portrait!
